Tai Chi/Qigong Workshop

An introduction to simple Tai Chi and Qigong methods for stress reduction, building immunity and staying healthy mentally, physically and emotionally with energy balance. Tai Chi and Qigong incorporate metarobics, creating a relaxed state of mind and enhanced mental focus. Participants will learn simple Tai Chi movements, Qigong movements, Qigong visualization meditative techniques, several breath practices for stress reduction and energy balance practices to incorporate into daily life. (ages 18 and up)

Tennis Leagues

Join a Park District tennis league and play tennis in the parks this spring! Several levels of play allow opportunities for all abilities. All leagues are 10 weeks long. League schedules and rules are mailed out prior to league play. (ages 18 and up)

Children will investigate how to reduce energy. The Forest Service will ask them to review, design and build working alternative power sources. They will use wind, solar, hydropower, conservation and other power sources to make a recommendation. They should bring brain power and be ready to dive into the world of all things power! (ages 8 – 14)

On an expedition to Hidden Meadows Day Camp, there was a disastrous storm that caused a ship to crash on Grant Park Island. How will the castaways find food, make shelter, and most importantly, get off the island? Children will learn survival skills by searching the park for basic necessities.(ages 5 – 12) (a.m. and all day option available)

Butterfly surveys help the Park District determine the health of our habitats! If you enjoy learning about butterflies, then this is for you! Survey consists of walking a set path and identifying as many butterflies as possible. Data is sent to The Ohio Lepidopterists.

Learn fly fishing basics on site, instructed by professionals from ReelFlyRod.com. Attend just one or all three of these beginner-level lessons on fly casting, outfit rigging, fly selection and presentation. Rods, reels and flies will be provided. (ages 12 and up)
