Hike for Your Health

This program will get your heart rate up and get you moving! Staff and volunteers will lead you on these guided, self-paced hikes. Get to know the parks better and meet new people. All hikes are on natural trails. Locations vary. Ages 18 and up.

Little ones will learn animal sounds and movements that assist in motor development and rhythmic skills. They will enjoy activities with a nature theme, age-appropriate equipment and fun music. Participants will learn fascinating facts about animals and habitats from A to Z, found in our parks and around the world! Ages 4 – 6.

Balance! Run! Jump! Catch! Kick! Come join Amazing Athletes as we practice our coordination, fine motor skills and gross motor skills! This program uses the fundamentals of 10 different sports to help build and develop motor skills, nutritional knowledge and body awareness. Ages 3 to 4.

Yoga in the Park

You will get it all in one fitness class — a challenging workout, yoga practice, as well as, mindfulness and functional movement for vitality and longevity. All levels welcome. Taught by certified yoga instructor Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water. Ages 18 and up.

Get outdoors, enjoy sunshine and fresh air while meeting other walking enthusiasts. These are self-guided walks around your community parks! Walking helps maintain a healthy weight, increases energy, lifts your spirits, strengthens memory and protects from heart disease and high blood pressure. Locations vary, first walk is at Oak Creek South Park. Ages 18 and up.

Do You Want To Paint a Snow Globe?

Each participating family will pick up a plywood cutout and paint it to resemble Spot the Snowman’s favorite activity and CWPD park. Drop Spot’s snow globe back off at the Park District with a short explanation of the activity and the park it represents. Prizes will be awarded for the most popular Spot the Snowman snow globe designs! All ages.

Trail Trekking

Trekking with Nordic poles is a wonderful way to cross-train or try something new. The Cooper Institute research studies showed that Nordic walking burns more calories, increases oxygen consumption and can be 46% more efficient than normal walking. Nordic poles provided are adjustable to your height. Ages 18 and up.

Enjoy a candlelit stroll through Bill Yeck Park. There will be a half-mile paved route or a longer, one-mile route along the purple trail. Several lighted features will add to your experience! Parking is located at Forest Field Park. All ages.

Getting outdoors makes us happy and healthy, especially in the wintertime! Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a “Tools to Trek” program. All ages. 

Participants can register up to the start of the program.

DCH: Mindfulness/Resiliency for the Young Athlete

Resilient athletes focus on an attitude of growth and progression. This class will focus on building an athlete’s strengths, focusing on creating realistic goals and helping the athlete identify where they can get support for the physical and psychological aspects of their training.
