Junior ACtivity Squad & ACtivity Squad Camps

Children ages 3 – 13 will stay active and healthy while trying new outdoor activities! Campers will learn neat nature education topics along the way! Each week has different themes and activities. Camps take place at Activity Center Park and start each day in the Community Room unless otherwise noted.

Resident camp registration begins online Monday, March 2, at 10 a.m. Nonresident camp registration begins online Monday, March 9, at 10 a.m. Phone registration will begin one day later. The registration deadline is the Monday prior to the first day of each camp week.

Jump on the summer camp fast track! To improve your camp registration experience, we have created a way for you to fill out the required camp forms PRIOR to the first day of camp registration. This will make your camp registration go faster and decrease the chance that your child will be placed on a camp waiting list.

Junior ACtivity Squad Camp 2026 Camp Weeks:

Week 2: June 8 – 12, Bubble-palooza! (Ages 3 – 5)
Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
It’s a whole week of bubbles! Not only will we play games that use bubbles, but we will also make some bubble-inspired crafts and stand inside a giant bubble. Get excited — it’s bubble-palooza!

Week 3: June 15 – 18, Oooey Gooey, Markers & Gluey (No camp June 19) (Ages 4 – 6)
Monday – Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – noon
Fee/week: $79 residents, $99 nonresidents
It’s science week! We will test lots of fun science experiments, explore nature, work on art projects, and make some oooey-gooey projects like slime and oobleck!

Week 4: June 22 – 26, Dino Digging and Daring Discoveries (Ages 5 – 7)
Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
Calling our junior paleontologists! Dinos have been found in Activity Center Park! Let’s get digging and investigate the mystery of these giant creatures. Don’t forget your detective hats and magnifying glasses! What will we discover?

Week 5: June 29 – July 2, Junior Color Battles: Active Art and Vibrant Adventures (No camp July 3) (Ages 4 – 6)

Join us for a week of our favorite messy, colorful, artistic projects! From splatter painting to active artwork to process art, this week is full of it all! “Hues” going to join us?

Week 7: July 13 – 17, Fur-tastic Fairy Tails (Ages 3 – 5)
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
Join us for a week focused on our favorite local mammals. We will be sprinkling in some of our favorite fairy tale animals as well! From skunks to unicorns, moles to mammoths, this week has them all.

Week 8: July 20 – 24, Outrageous Oceans and Wild Waters (Ages 4 – 6)
Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

All aboard! It’s time for our voyage across the great blue. This week will dive in and see what ocean creatures we can find. We have our favorite crafts, games, and a visit to the sprayground waiting for you!

Week 9: July 27 – 31, Wild Wilderness and Western Whimsy (Ages 5 – 7)
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
We are headed back to the wild, wild west! Horses, cowboy hats and rodeo-inspired crafts and activities are on the agenda. Mosey on over, we set out at dawn (or 9 a.m.)!

We will split into teams to play games outdoors! Activities include laser tag, archery tag, water tag, capture the flag and a Nerf battle! Games like dodgeball will be featured as well. Teams will be mixed up throughout the day.

Week 3: June 15 – 18, It’s Not Rocket Science! Space and Sci-Fi Shenanigans (No camp June 19) (Ages 8 – 12)
Monday – Thursday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Space and sci-fi week is back! Our focus will be centered on exploring the final frontier. We will bring in STEM and engineering design challenges, explore the science of the universe, and put some creative thinking to the test! All aboard, T-minus 10, 9, 8 …

Week 4: June 22 – 26, The Amazing Race: Challenge Accepted (Ages 9 – 13)
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon

We have a variety of teamwork-based games and activities ready for you, should you accept the challenge. Our fan-favorite camp version of The Amazing Race is back! Make sure your shoes are tied and gear is packed, because the clock starts now! We will use inflatable S.A.F.E. Archery equipment this week.

Week 5: June 29 – July 2, Color Battles: “Hues” Got Your Back? (No camp July 3) (Ages 9 – 13)

Week 6: July 6 – 10, Culinary Adventures (Ages 9 – 13)

Calling all foodies! This week we will learn healthy and yummy recipes and refine our cooking skills. We will learn about the life cycle of the foods we love, while learning different ways to prepare them! We will cook outside if weather permits. Campers will take home their culinary creations to enjoy!

Week 7: July 13 – 17, STEM-sational! (Ages 8 – 12)
Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Science, technology, engineering and math are taking center stage this week. From science experiments to design challenges, this week is action-packed and ready for fun.

Week 8: July 20 – 24, Outside C.S.I.: Campfires, Survival Skills and Innovation (Field Trip Week) (Ages 9 – 13)
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
A week focused on building outdoor skills! We will cook over a campfire, make a walking stick, read a map and compass, tie knots and so much more! We will throw in some outdoor detective skills and orienteering/geocaching as well. On Wednesday, we will meet at Grant Park for hiking and creeking!

Week 9: July 27 – 31, Mission Objective: The Summer Saga (Ages 8 – 12)
Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Fee/week: $99 residents, $119 nonresidents
High-priority objective incoming! This week of camp is full of mysteries, decoders and spy thrillers. We will have lots of challenges to solve, so get your disguise ready, secret agent!

Additional Camp Information:

Staff
Many staff coordinators and counselors are college students pursuing a degree in parks and recreation or education, or they have previous experience in the field. They are at least 18 years of age and have experience working with children. Camp volunteers are at least two years older than the oldest camper age each week.

Inclement Weather
Camp is primarily an outdoor program and will be held rain or shine. The community room at Activity Center Park will serve as a meeting area and shelter for Junior ACtivity Squad and ACtivity Squad Camps.

What to Wear
Dress your child in comfortable old clothes and closed-toe shoes. Sandals and flip-flops are prohibited due to poison ivy and other naturally occurring hazards. Please put your child’s name on all items brought to camp.

What to Bring
Bring a water bottle to refill during the day.

Daily Sign-In & Sign-Out  
We take strict precautions in accepting and releasing children from the program. Please inform counselors of any changes to your approved pick-up list. Daily sign-in and sign-out is required. If you would like your child to walk home after camp, please contact us in advance to fill out the proper paperwork.

Sunscreen & Insect Repellent
Counselors are not permitted to apply sunscreen or insect repellent. Campers can bring their own and reapply.

Medical Procedures & Emergencies 
All counselors are trained in first aid and CPR and carry a first aid kit. Health history information is kept on-site. In the event of a medical emergency, parents and 911 will be called. The child will be escorted to the hospital or released to the parents. If parents cannot be located, the emergency contact will be called. In the event of minor injury/illness, the child will be treated, an incident report will be completed, and parents will be notified at pickup.

Medication
Staff is permitted to perform only basic first aid. They are also authorized to dispense some types of prescription or nonprescription medication. Rule 5101:2-18-15 (4) 2 of the Ohio Administrative Code states that a child day camp shall set its own policy regarding whether to administer prescription or nonprescription medications. If your child requires medication during camp hours, you must complete additional required forms. If your child carries an epi-pen, complete additional required forms.

Registration Deadline
The last day to make registration changes is noon the Monday prior to your camper’s start date.

Cancellation Policy
If a camp is canceled by the Park District, you will receive a full refund. If your child can no longer attend a camp, you may cancel seven days prior to the camp’s start date to receive a full refund as household credit or back to the original payment method. Cancellations made less than seven days prior to the camp’s start date will be offered a 50% household credit. Cancellations made during or after the camp are not eligible for a refund.

All participants must be independent in the six activities of daily living: using the restroom, eating, bathing, dressing, transferring (i.e. walking) and continence. If your child requires an accommodation to participate, please let us know when you register.
