Wellness Tip of the Month
Mid-Year Reboot
With New Year’s resolutions long gone, it’s time to rethink our health and
get back on the right track with these simple steps.
Make fiber your friend. Foods high in
the bulky substance, including apples, peppers, and whole grains, can
jump-start a sluggish digestive system and stave off constipation, which can
make your abdomen puff out.
Ease back into
exercise. Go for a brisk 30-minute walk outside. “It stimulates
your metabolism and can help drain excess fluids you’re carrying,” says Amy
E. Foxx-Orenstein, a gastroenterologist at the Mayo clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota.
Get a full night’s sleep.
Research shows that sleeping only four to five hours can affect the body’s
hormone levels, which can lead to increased hunger and weight gain.
