Laughter:  Good for the Body

Laughter has been shown to:

bullet Lower levels of cortisol – a stress hormone that suppresses the immune system
bullet Increase levels of infection-fighters called immunoglobulins
bullet More than double the levels of cytokines, which manage how your immune system works
bullet Increase the activity of cells that seek out and destroy abnormal cells, such as viruses and tumors

One study found that heart attack patients who had 30 minutes of humor a day were less likely to have a second heart attack, needed less medicine, and had lower blood pressure. 

Laughter also may ease pain and enhance memory, heart and lung function, and circulation.
