Parent Tips for Healthy Kids

How Can I Help my Children be More Active?

bullet Be a role model for your children. If they see you being physically active and having fun, they are more likely to be active and stay active throughout their lives.
bullet Involve the whole family in activities like hiking, biking, dancing, basketball, or roller skating.
bullet Focus on fun. You can do a lot of walking during trips to the zoo, park, or miniature golf course.
bullet Include children in household activities like walking the dog, washing the car, or mowing the lawn.
bullet Limit your children's television and computer time. Offer them active options such as joining a local recreation center, participating in an after-school program, or taking lessons in a sport they enjoy.
bullet Encourage your child to be physically active every day.
