Nutrition Tip of the Month

It’s Not Easy Getting Greens

Okay, we all know we are supposed to be increasing our daily intake of healthy fruits and vegetables. But that can be easier said than done – especially when it comes to kids and other finicky eaters. Here are some quick and simple ways you can up your daily intake of fresh or frozen produce:

bulletInclude at least one fruit or vegetable in every meal you eat.
bulletAdd fruit to plain yogurt and pancakes or waffles.
bulletServe a large salad that contains several types of fruits and veggies.
bulletTop pizzas, pasta, and soups with shredded or diced veggies, such as carrots, or green peppers.
bulletBring fresh fruit to work every day for a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon.
bulletPrepare a batch of smoothies using frozen fruit, like blueberries, or overly ripe bananas.
bulletBuy a new fruit or vegetable every time you shop.
bulletCook an extra portion of fresh veggies for dinner and take the leftovers to work for lunch the next day.
