Always Take Time to Warm Up
Whether you plan to run, play a court sport, go skiing, or just rake leaves, always warm up before any physical activity. Cold muscles and tendons are more prone to injury. A 5
to 10-minute walk and some range-of-motion exercises will raise your body temperature and supply the oxygen and other fuels your muscles need before they start to work hard.
A warm-up gets your heart and lungs ready for the physical demands on your body and reduces the risk of heart rhythm abnormalities that could be brought on by exercise.
The chance of muscle soreness will also be less if you warm up and do a similar cool-down after any strenuous activity.
