- You and your preschooler explore a different park each month year-round.

to Nature - All ages can enjoy a free guided nature walk led by Park District staff.

One Tuesday morning each month adults can enjoy a guided nature walk led by
the Park District naturalist. Programs last about an hour and are
held at various parks throughout the district.
Around
the World in 9 Days - Children in grades 3-5 learn about
the wonderfully diverse world in which we live. Travel to a different
country each month by sampling food, playing traditional games, learning
songs, and making crafts. Registration each August for this 9-month program.
Junior Nature Club
- Children in grades K-2 learn about a different nature
topic each month during the school year. Activities include hikes, games,
and crafts.
Home
School Nature Academy - Children in home school programs learn about
a different nature topic each month during the school year.
Guided
Nature Hikes for Preschool & Scout Groups
- Park District Volunteer Naturalists lead your preschool or scout group
on an educational and fun-filled nature hike. Scouts may choose from three
themes, Forester,
Wildlife Ranger, or Geologist, to help fulfill badge
requirements. Hikes are offered Mondays and Tuesdays in the spring and
fall.
Hidden Meadows Day Camp
- A week-long
summer adventure for children ages 3-12. Explore nature, hike Holes Creek, play games, do
crafts, and make new friends.
Junior
Adventure Camp - Youth ages 10-12
experience the environment for a week in the summer with an optional
overnight campout.
Senior
Adventure Camp - Youth ages 12-15
experience the environment for a week in the summer with an optional
overnight campout.
Project WILD Training - Award-winning environmental education
program designed for educators working with students K-12. Utilizes
animals and their habitat needs to help students learn about the world
around them.
Montgomery County Envirothon
- The
Envirothon is a competitive, academic, outdoor team event for high school students. Teams
of 3-5 students compete against other county schools in forestry, wildlife, aquatic
ecology, soil science and current environmental issues. All participants receive an
Envirothon T-shirt and the top three teams receive plaques for their schools.
The competition is held each spring.
Survival on the Underground Railroad - Groups are guided
through Grant Park as slaves on the underground railroad. Volunteers
portray local residents from this time period.
Grant Living History Hike - Groups are guided through Grant
Park and experience the days and life of Richard H. Grant who owned the
property when it was known as Normandy Farms. Volunteers portray members
of the Grant family and influential Daytonians of the time.
Nature Card Making - Unleash your
creativity during this evening of fun! The Park District provides
supplies to make four or five nature inspired cards. You learn about
card making as a hobby and resources for future card making endeavors.
This class is offered for individuals ages 16 and older.
Bird
Hikes - Join the Park District Naturalist on seasonal hikes to
search for birds. Learn tips and techniques to identify birds by sight and
sound.
Leaf Identification Hike - This fall hike is for school-age
children and their adult companions. Identify trees and learn interesting facts
about the plant kingdom. Permission to collect leaves is granted for this program.
Night
Hike - Venture into the evening air and discover our nocturnal
wildlife friends with the Park District naturalist.
Hike
and Seek - Children ages 3-6 explore nature with their grandparent(s).
Winter Woods Day Camp - Children ages 3-12 explore
nature every Saturday in February searching for animal tracks, playing games, making
crafts, and hiking through Grant Park.
Hike for Your Health
- One morning each week adults can enjoy a brisk morning hike led by Park
District recreation coordinator. Programs last about an hour and are held
at various parks throughout the district.
Hound
Hikes - A dog friendly walk each Friday morning. Exercise and
socialization for you and your canine.
Stroller
Strength - An hour long
cardiovascular walk with your child in a stroller. Each session will end
with upper and lower body resistance training and a cool-down
stretch. This program is held in the spring, summer, and fall.
Mini-Movers
- Children ages 4-5 enjoy activities with an alphabet theme.

Healthy
Ohioans Walk - Annual Healthy Ohioans Fitness Walk at Grant Park,
Hithergreen Senior Center, and Activity Center Park held in May.
Adult
Softball Leagues - Coed and men's leagues are available
and include an optional end of season tournament. Coed leagues consist of 6
teams and play a double round-robin schedule. Men's leagues play a double header schedule consisting of 20

Grand
Gifts - Children ages 3-6 with grandparent(s) make a craft for mom
for Mother's Day and a gift for dad for Father's Day.
Kiddie
Krafts - Children ages 3-5 enjoy a craft, story, and song about a
different animal each week.
Geocaching
- Technology meets nature - all ages can enjoy this hobby. Use a Global
Positioning System unit to find caches hidden in CWPD parks.
Big
Rig Gig - Children of all ages with an adult companion. Touch and
climb on many vehicles used in the community.
Capture
the Flag and Bonfire - Youth in grades 6-8 play a big game of
Capture the Flag in Grant Park and enjoy s'mores by the campfire
afterwards.
Summer
Teen Program - Teens ages 13-17 hang out at the Activity Center
Park and enjoy games, guest speakers, walking field trips, tie-dying, and
a cook-out.
Preschool Play Yard - Children ages
3-5 enjoy summer in the parks with Park District staff. Program is held
Monday through Thursday from 1:00-3:00 at various community parks.
Summer Recreation Program - Children ages 6-12 spend
the summer in the parks playing games, doing crafts, and making friends.
Program is held mornings and afternoons at various parks throughout the
district.
Summer Special Events - Children ages 6-12 can
participate in two FREE special events this summer. Both events are set up carnival style
with games and activities. Children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult at all
times. Registration is held at the park the day of the event.
Adventures
in Camping - Children ages 5-8 with an adult companion almost
camp. All the fun of camping and then sleep in your own bed!
Family Camping - Bring
your family and join Park District staff on an overnight at Grant Park.
Campfire Sing-Along - Enjoy a roaring campfire and sing an
assortment of campfire songs. Fun for the whole family!

- A Halloween adventure where children ages 3-8 and their adult companions
