About the Park
Site of the former Hithergreen Center, the Park District acquired this park from Washington Township in April 2019. The building on the property was demolished in fall 2019. Hithergreen Park is currently under development.
The 51st park for the community came from a cooperative venture between Washington Township and the Centerville-Washington Park District. The two agencies created a plan and applied for an Ohio Public Works “Clean Ohio” grant to fund the majority of the project. The total grant amount was $558,000.
The park design came from themes from a neighborhood design thinking meeting — preservation of woods on the park’s west side, looped walking trail, small gathering shelter, nature and manufactured play, and additional trees and wildflower areas.
