Youth Programs:

Adventures in Camping - Children ages 5-8 enjoy all the fun of camping and then sleep at home in the summer.

Around the World in 9 Days
- Children in grades 3-5 learn about the wonderfully diverse world in which we live. Travel to a different country each month by sampling food, playing traditional games, learning songs, and making crafts. Registration each August for this 9-month program.

Eco-Explorers - Children in grades 3-5 explore nature each month during the school year. Activities include hikes and games.

Nature Discovery Zone - Park District Volunteer Naturalists lead your preschool or scout group on an educational and fun-filled nature hike. Programs can be tailored to meet requirements of scouting badges and preschool or homeschool curriculum. Hikes are offered Mondays and Tuesdays in the spring and fall.

Hidden Meadows Day Camp - A week-long summer adventure for children ages 3-12. Explore nature, hike Holes Creek, play games, do crafts, and make new friends.

Hike and Seek - Children ages 3-6 explore nature with their grandparent(s) during the summer season.

Homeschool Nature Academy - Children ages 5-12 in home school programs learn about a different nature topic each month during the school year.

Homeschool Nature Academy II - Youth ages 13-18 in home school programs participate in advanced nature education.

Junior Adventure Camp - Youth ages 10-12 experience the environment for a week in the summer concluding with an overnight campout.

Junior Nature Club - Children in grades K-2 learn about a different nature topic each month during the school year. Activities include hikes, games, and crafts.

Montgomery County Envirothon - The Envirothon is a competitive, academic, outdoor team event for high school students. Teams of 3-5 students compete against other county schools in forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology, soil science and current environmental issues. All participants receive an Envirothon T-shirt and the top three teams receive plaques for their schools. The competition is held each spring.

Outdoor Adventure Crew - Youth ages 8-12 skip rocks, climb trees, build forts, and explore the creek during this opportunity for free and unstructured play in nature with the naturalist.

Outdoor Adventure Reading Club - Youth in grades 5-8 read a selected book and discuss it at Grant Park. This program is offered in partnership with the Washington-Centerville Public Library.

Passport to Fishing - Youth ages 10-16 learn fishing skills and try to catch some fish at Oak Grove Park.

Preschool Nature Series - You and your preschooler explore a different park each month year-round. Programs last about an hour and are held in various park throughout the district.

Senior Adventure Camp - Youth ages 12-15 experience the environment for a week in the summer concluding with an overnight campout.

Winter Woods Day Camp - Children ages 3-12 explore nature every Saturday in February searching for animal tracks, playing games, making crafts, and hiking through Grant Park.

Family Programs:

Earthy Evening - Youth ages 5-10 with an adult celebrate Earth Day with a nature hike, nature games, a healthy snack, and the movie version of The Lorax.

Eggstravaganza - Hike the trails at Grant Park looking for the eggs of 10 special birds that inhabit the park.

Family Camping - Bring your family and join Park District staff on an overnight in the summer at Grant Park.

Family Nature Night - Enjoy a winter evening hike in the meadow to look and listen for signs of wildlife.

Holiday Luminary Walk - Celebrate the holiday season with a peaceful illuminated stroll through the conifer grove of Forest Field Park.

National Hunting and Fishing Day - Catch and release fishing with instruction and introduction to archery from NASP certified instructors in the fall.

Passport to Nature - All ages can enjoy a free guided nature walk led by Park District staff. Programs last 1 - 1½ hours and are held each month at various parks throughout the district.

Adult Programs:

Adult Archery Basics - A 5-week course for individuals with little or no archery experience. Equipment is provided.

Adult Nature Workshop-Spring Wildflowers - Learn to identify the fleeting spring beauties  along with folklore and medicinal and edible uses during a hike in Grant Park.

Butterfly Monitoring - A citizen scientist project monitoring the health of butterfly populations in Grant Park.

Fireside Eco-Chats - Adult environmental lecture series on the second Wednesday of each winter month at Grant Nature Nook.

Hunter Education Home Study Course - Ages 12 through adult study a range of topics from conservation, safety, and ethics to the proper handling of shotguns, handguns, and bow-hunting gear.

Pioneer Woman - This series of programs is designed for women and young ladies 13 years of age and older interested in gaining self-sufficiency outdoors.

Tuesday Trek - Two Tuesday mornings each month adults can enjoy a guided nature walk led by the Park District naturalist or volunteer naturalist. Programs last about an hour and are held at various parks throughout the district.
