Geocaching

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for Global Positioning System unit users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit and enjoy the outdoors. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. For complete information visit www.geocaching.com.

The Park District requires geocachers to get permission before hiding any caches in our parks.  Please contact Outdoor Education Coordinator Kristen Marks () if you are interested in placing a cache in a CWPD park or have other questions pertaining to geocaching.

The Park District holds event caches one to two times a year as a way for cachers to socialize with one another and find geocaches together.  Look for these among the program listings on our website or visit www.geocaching.com.

The Park District has hidden traditional caches in the locations listed below. Follow the links for the coordinates and logs. Registration is free.
