Forest Field Park
About the Park
Forest Field Park is
an arboretum as well as a community park. The Park District has planted 14 varieties of evergreens
and 41 species of deciduous trees around the park. The play equipment in the park is appropriate for younger children
and includes a climber, belt swings, and infant swings.
Tennis courts are located in the area near the northern entrance to the
park. Soccer fields are located throughout the park, with the baseball diamonds
in the southern section of the park. The field to the west of the baseball
diamonds is referred to as Forest Field West, sitting between
Forest Field Park and Bill Yeck Park off Seminary View Drive.
2010
plans include the construction of an additional parking lot in the southern
section of the park in order to accommodate parking for soccer practice
fields in the south and west areas of the park. This expansion will reduce
the need for practice facilities in neighborhood parks which do not have
parking available.

History
Forest Field Park was acquired in two parcels with the first parcel a
joint purchase with Montgomery County and financial support from the United
States Department of the Interior Bureau of Outdoor Recreation and the
second parcel purchased solely by the Park District. The jointly owned
parcel was later transferred to the Park District. The parcels were
purchased in 1976 and 1983.
