Seasonal Employment

The Park District will accept applications for summer 2011 positions beginning in January 2011.

The following seasonal positions are available to qualified applicants 18 years of age and older. (16 & 17 year-olds may apply for assistant camp counselor and assistant recreation leader positions)

Recreation Assistant - (May-August or September) Duties include program registration, general office duties, and assisting program and operation staff for park events. Approximately 30 hours per week, schedule is negotiable. Applicants must be in good physical condition, computer literate, and reliable, with good customer service skills.
$7.40-$9.25 per hour

Park Operations Technician I & II - (March-November) Openings available for August-November 2010. Flexible hours for college students. Duties include mowing, trimming, painting, and general field and trail maintenance. Approximately 32-40 hours per week. Schedule includes occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays. Pay range I or II determined by prior experience and education.
$7.40-$15.10 per hour

Program Coordinator - (June-August) Includes training and supervising staff, coordinating special events, maintaining program records and supplies, delivering supplies to program sites, and public relations. Proven experience with children's programs, supervisory skills, excellent organization and communication skills required. Includes some evenings and holiday work.
$8.50-$10.35 per hour

Day Camp Counselor - (June-August or Saturdays in February) Work with children ages 3-12 at nature-oriented day camp. Proven experience with children's programs and an interest in the natural environment required.
$7.40-$9.25 per hour Counselors (ages 18+)
$7.30-$8.10 per hour Assistant Counselors (ages 16 &17)


Summer Recreation Leader - (June-August) Work with children ages 3-12 in the outdoor recreation program. Proven experience with children's programs and reliable transportation required.
$7.40-$9.25 per hour Leaders (ages 18+)
$7.30-$8.10 per hour Assistant Leaders (ages 16 &17)


Summer Naturalist Intern - (June-August) Work with children in summer nature programs, train counselors in outdoor education concepts, develop and lead programs for campers. Previous nature programming experience, exceptional skills in organization and communication required. Current enrollment in natural resource or related program preferred. Download job description
